Diddy's Next Project?

Diddy really has been out of the spotlight, as far as music goes, for little while now. He's been doing a lot of work in the background, promoting Ciroc, and working on his fashion ideas. Well now we know what his next big idea is, and I personally love it!

Broadcasting & Cable has reported that the entertainment mogul will be launching his very own cable network! Following in the steps of Oprah's OWN, Diddy will have "Revolt." It is being described as "a music themed network geared towards an African American Audience," and will feature music videos, scripted shows, and some reality shows. I think it's a great idea. Diddy knows music, he understand film, and he's had multiple reality shows. If he plays his cards right this could be a huge success.

The network will be carried on Comcast. Although Comcast did not release a statement, Time Warners  Cable has reported spoken to Diddy about Revolt.  Hopefully he learned from MTV's mistake, and will actually make his "music themed network" about music!

Kelly Rowland - Keep It Between Us

I love this! Check out Kelly Rowland's new video for "Keep It Between Us." I actually never heard the song until today but I think the video is great, and I think Kelly sounds even better. Although "Motivation" was such a huge hit I was afraid that Kelly would be going away for a while after the song. I just thought that she didn't have enough diversity in her music. Hopefully with this song added to her collection she'll have a long lasting career.

The only thing holding  Kelly Rowland back is the fact that it takes her such a long time to make one song. I really think what she needs to do is go into the studio and make a full album with tons of hits, and not take three years to get it out. She's such a talented artist and I think with the right team she could be huge. I'm definitely rooting for her and I would love to interview her someday. Until then, enjoy the video!

Ashley Robles - I Will Always Love You

I know I'm a little late but I just got around to watching American Idol from Sunday. There were a few good auditions but I wanted to talk about Ashley Robles. She sang Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."Everyone has been saying how amazing the audition was, and while I do think she deserved to go through, I think this was completely the wrong song choice for her.

Her voice is definitely strong enough for the song but at times there was an almost raspy-ness to her voice and I wish she would've sang something else to demonstrate that aspect. I'm sure she'll be around for a while though. The most popular prediction is Top 10. I guess I agree. I still want to hear more before I make an judgments though. What do you think of Ashley?

Aretha Franklin Postpones The Wedding

Maybe Aretha Franklin is tired of seeing couples getting a divorce, and decided to hold off on the wedding. The Queen of Soul released this statement today:

"Regretfully to our friends and supporters; Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."

The statement was signed "Aretha and Will." Personally, I think it's great that they realize things may have been moving a little to quickly. It also shows that they aren't afraid of the public and do what they know is right. Celebrities, be sure to take note of the responsibility and maturity that Aretha and Will are displaying. Hopefully you all can learn something from them. Whatever may happen in the future, I'm still wishing them both the best!

Jay-Z's NYC 40/40 Club Shut Down

The 40/40 Club in New York City just went under major renovations and reopened with a huge launch event. Things looked good for the club...until it was shut down just a day after it's star studded reopen. According to sources the club received a "C" grade and was shut down due to many health violations.

The inspector found perishable goods just sitting on a counter, and also saw workers mixing salsa without gloves. That's disgusting! The whole report is very in-depth, but some things that were noted were five pounds of cooked mashed potatoes at a temperature of close to 90 degrees, and 50 turkey burgers were being kept at a temperature of 67 degrees. Hot foods should be at least 140 degrees, if not hotter. Another big issue was the walk-in refrigerator having a temperature significantly higher than what it should have been. Reps for the club said that the fridge broke right before the inspection took place.

The club immediately addressed and corrected all of the issues and is supposed to be re-opened. They will face a re-evaluation next month to see if they can remain open. After $10 million of renovations you would hope that the staff would get their act together. I always wanted to go to the 40/40 but maybe I'll check out the one in Atlantic City instead.

RIP Etta James

I am sad to report that after years of fighting a battle with leukemia, the iconic Etta James as passed away. The news broke this morning and since then celebrities have been pouring in tons of support. Beyonce, who played Etta James in Cadillac Records, released this statement on her website:

"This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a life time. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless and had guts. She will be missed."

Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Alyssa Milano, and many other celebrities have all taken to Twitter releasing short statements as well. Rihanna tweeted, "#DearEtta may you rest in peace." It's so sad when someone so talented passes away. Her music will last forever and I hope she will continue to inspire countless performers. Rest in peace Etta James, you will truly be missed.
