Sia's  "Controversial"  Music  Video  For  "Elastic  Heart"

1/29/2015

Okay so I haven't really touched upon this topic, but, being a huge fan of Sia, I felt the need to do so. If you have not seen Sia's music video for her latest single "Elastic Heart," please watch that above first, and then continue reading.

The video has been receiving a ton of criticism and has been the subject of controversy for many due to the age difference between the two actors, Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler. In the video, the two actors portray warring Sia's at different stages of her life. Maddie and Shia are dressed in skin colored leotards and, filled with emotional intensity, the two "battle" inside of a giant birdcage.

Since it's release it's praise of artistic excellence has been matched with cries of "pedophilia." Critics say that the video makes them uncomfortable and that it's filled with sexual tones. Sia responded to these claims in a short, respectful statement released via Twitter.

"I anticipated some 'pedophelia!!!' Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring 'Sia' self states. I apologize to those who feel triggered by Elastic Heart. My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody."

Personally, I think Sia did exactly what she set out to do. She created emotional content that was so beautiful, it caused people to think and use their mind to interpret it. I think that's the real problem; In a world where music, and the videos accompanying them, usually consists of flashing lights, made up words, and the writing of a 3-year-old, listeners don't know how to react something that makes them think.

Sia's music is much more than a repetitive made up word like "bae," and so her videos will be much more than scantily clad women dancing around, or some new rapper smoking a blunt and shouting profane lyrics every other word.

So you tell me, what's more disturbing; A video with two extremely talented actors telling a story that stimulates the mind, or the fact that we find it more acceptable to promote and accept the content of half-naked artists singing songs filled with obvious sexual and drug references?

YouTube star turned R&B artist, Dylan Hyde, has released his debut single "Sick Of Your Love," accompanied by a killer music video directed and filmed by C.J. Brion.

If you recall, I interviewed Dylan Hyde a little over a year ago after finding him on YouTube, and I've been waiting to hear some original music ever since. Well, it was certainly worth the wait. Being the protégé of Johnny Wright and his partner Shawn Campbell, Dylan Hyde is undoubtedly on the path to stardom.

Be sure to give the video a thumbs up and follow Dylan Hyde on Twitter @TheDylanHyde.

If you follow me on Twitter, then you saw me tweet about how obsessed I was with this Random Puzzle iPhone 6 Case, by CARVED. Thanks to Carved for sending over this beautiful case, so I could write a review!

First, let me start by saying that the packaging of this case was absolutely amazing. Everything from the package it came in, to the stickers, and even the thank you card, added such a personal touch. I really enjoyed it much more than the simple plastic box you would typically get when buying a case.

The case itself is beautiful and feels great when using the phone. The build quality is superb, and the back of the case is actually made with real wood. The pieces are then combined with a polycarbonate case, and flexible rubber sides to create the finished product. Carved also uses their special finish, to maintain the natural wood feel, and it works!

Each design comes in different models. This particular one is the Traveler model, which has the rubber sides that goes around the phone and adds protecting to the entire device. It also raises above the screen the perfect amount to help protect the front of the phone as well. There is an opening for the mute/unmute switch. The power button and volume buttons are covered, but still provide feedback when they are pressed.

I think one of the coolest features of Carved is that each case is custom made!  For example, if you ordered this exact phone case on their site, your puzzle pattern would be different than mine. You can even go on and make a custom pattern if you wanted to do so!

Carved offers a variety of case, and after using this one for close to week, I can highly recommend this brand to all of you. If you're looking for a unique phone case that protects your phone with out adding bulk, then you must check out www.carved.com today!

Jazmine  Sullivan  Covers  Whitney  Houston

Philadelphia native, and overall vocal beast Jazmine Sullivan, recently performed a cover of Whitney Houston's "I have Nothing." Whitney is by far one of my favorite vocalists, and I'm always weary of people covering her songs, but Jazmine is one of the few that can perform her songs, and perform them well.

Enjoy her rendition of "I Have Nothing," which she performed for Vibe's V Sessions, and let me know what you think in the comments below! I would love to meet and interview Jazmine some day. Her voice is out of this world.

2014 was certainly an eventful and unforgettable year. I attended various events, made some new friends, conducted interviews with tons of singers, actors, YouTubers, & more, and made my dream move to Los Angeles with my best friend and artist Dylan.

I don't believe in the saying "new year new me," but I do believe in continuing to grow from the person I was in the previous year. I laid the groundwork and planted the seeds for a lot of projects this year, and I'm really excited to share everything with you guys.

I'm going to change the blog up a bit and start running it a little more organized, so keep an eye out for that. Also, be sure to follow me on my social media to keep up-to-date on what I'm working on!

Happy New Year! Here's to 2015.
