Sunday Motivation: Work Hard

6/7/2015

This week's Sunday Motivation post is going to be pretty short, but basically, I just want to remind all of you to work hard and never give up! Like the quote above says, "nothing worth having comes easy." This quote is so true, but at the end of the day, if you are dedicated and work hard, you will be rewarded.

Living out here in Los Angeles I finally realized that work ethic is so important. They say it's difficult to make it out here, and the truth is, it's difficult to make your dreams come true no matter where you live. You have to put in the time and hard work, and make some sacrifices to make it happen.

I've become familiar with the LA dynamic, and I'm starting to see why everyone thinks it's a one in a million shot out here; it's because no one has a good work ethic. It's so easy to become distracted by the life style in LA, and within a few months you'll start to worry more about having fun, than working hard. The fact of the matter is, if you are willing to do the work, you will be able to continue to grow. There are so many opportunities out here to take advantage of, but everyone is too busy going to parties, or worrying about their social status. All you need to do is focus.

That being said, this week, focus on your work ethic. If there is something you're working towards, do not give up, no matter how hard it gets. If you find yourself getting distracted, take a minute to regroup and get back on track.

I recently attended the Sour Patch Kids Breaking Out Promposal event for J-14 and got to interview some of today's top social media influencers like Andrea Russett, Meredith Foster, Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson.

The event was extremely well put together and I had a great time. Sour Patch Kids put together an entire prom for fans of the social media stars, and four lucky winners got to be the dates of Andrea, Meredith, Jack, and Jack. The prom took place in Santa Monica, California, and everyone had a great time.

Stay tuned for my interviews with all four of the social media stars. I will be posting and sharing them on Twitter as soon as they are live so be sure to subscribe to my website as well as follow me on Twitter @OfficialyJaySwag.

Catch the Sour Patch Kids Breaking Out YouTube series on all four social media influencer's YouTube channels!

Sunday Motivation: Forgiveness

I think I've mentioned this before, but I love going on The Good Quote  and looking at all of their quotes on Instagram. They always have the best posts and they can really change your perspective on a lot of things.

This week for Sunday Motivation I wanted to talk about forgiveness. The quote above really resonated with me this week so I wanted to share. "When a friend does something wrong, don't forget all the things they did right."

Too many people harbor negative feelings towards others because they were hurt by them, but that is going to happen in life. People are going to hurt you, even your friends. It's actually quite normal.  You can learn a lot from the hurt and sometimes the pain will help you grow. What does not help you grow is keeping in the negative feelings. It is always important to forgive your friends, and it's even okay to forgive your enemies(trust me, nothing will bother them more).

Just remember that no one is perfect, and if your friends hurt you, they probably didn't mean to do it. One mistake shouldn't outweigh ten good deeds. It would be a shame to miss out on future memories because you are too busy holding in that anger. Just release it and forgive them.

If it turns out that maybe you need to move on, then forgive them and distance yourself from them. It is important to recognize that forgiveness does not necessarily mean that you have to stay friends with someone.  Forgiveness allows you to clear your mind and focus on the positive things in your life.

This week, take the time to forgive your friends and your enemies. Think about which friends really did not mean to hurt you and tell try to make amends with them. Find the friends that do not fit into your life right now, forgive them, and distance yourself so that you can focus on the positive. Lastly, forgive your enemies. Don't let them get the best of you. Forgive them and forget about them. You will feel much better after.

What a rare day! I've finally uploaded a video to my main channel on YouTube, which I haven't done in over a month or so, and it feels good to be getting back into the swing of things.

Okay, so this video is only a minute long really, but I just wanted to explain why I haven't posted on their in such a long time, and what to expect on my main channel in the coming months.

Check it out and be sure to comment/rate/subscribe, and let me know what kind of challenges you would like to see my friends and I do. Thanks guys!

Okay so this week's current obsession is probably no surprise to you who follow me on social media. I have been raving about this book "A Work In Progress," written by YouTuber Connor Franta. The book is a memoir that documents Connor's life growing up, the challenges he faced, and entering the world of social media.

Being that Connor and I very close to the same age, I really found myself connecting with him on many of the different stories that he tells throughout the book. I highly recommend checking this out. It doesn't matter if you are a YouTuber or not really, it is just an extremely well written book that many teenagers and young adults will find relatable.

I was able to meet Connor once at an event out here, but unfortunately he was not doing press. I'm sure we will bump into each other again soon, and I will definitely get an interview next time. Until then, his book is what I've been obsessing over this week!
